Fannie Bay Gaol

Discover the fascinating history behind Darwin's main prison for almost 100 years.

Attracting thousands of visitors each year, this iconic site was open from 1883 through to 1979.

Take a self-guided tour through the grounds, where you can see the crude facilities of the cells and the gallows where the last executions were held in 1952.

TIP: If visiting over the summer months, remember this facility has no air-conditioning.
